Radiation Protection of the Public and the Environment
The Unit develops and applies criteria, methodologies and tools for surveillance and evaluation of the radiological impact, due to the presence of natural or artificial radioactive materials in the environment, to help in the decision making in planned, existing and emergency exposure situations to ionising radiation. The group participates in numerous national, European and international R&D projects related to the radiation protection of the population and the environment.

Third Annual Meeting of the European Project RadoNorm
The RadoNorm project held its third annual meeting from September 18 to 21, 2023 in Katowice (Poland), with the possibility to attend virtually.
Internal working group meetings were held on September 18 and 19, while plenary sessions with the consortium, stakeholders and other external participants were held on the last two days.
The latest results were also presented in the Environment, Health, and Society & Radiation Protection sessions.
Researchers from the Radiological Protection of the Public and the Environment Unit of CIEMAT Danyl Pérez, Alla Dvorzhak, Alicia Escribano and Almudena Real participated in this meeting virtually.
