The main objective of EURAD is to implement a joint strategic program of research and knowledge management activities at European level, bringing together and complementing the programs of the EU Member States to ensure the creation and preservation of cutting-edge knowledge, to offer safe, sustainable, and publicly acceptable solutions for radioactive waste management in Europe.
EURAD supports the implementation of the European Directive on radioactive waste in the EU Member States, considering the various stages of advancement of national programs.
EURAD brings together more than 50 international organizations, including radioactive waste agencies (WMO), technical support organizations (TSO) and research centres (RE).
In the first phase of EURAD, many work packages (WPs) have been developed as research projects in different areas, work packages to promote knowledge transfer and training have been created as well.
Currently, our Unit participates in three work packages:
- WP 3: CORI - Cement - Organic- Radionuclides- Interactions
- WP5: FUTURE - Fundamental Understanding of Radionuclide Retention
- WP15: CONCORD: Container Corrosion under Disposal conditions
