The objective of the Materials for Energy Interest Division is to assess the structural materials behaviour of energy power plants, including nuclear both fission and fusion, concentrating solar power, fossil, and others.
In particular, the study of degradation mechanisms associated to the operation under extreme conditions as neutron irradiation, high temperature and coolant compatibility are performed.
Therefore, our functions are:
-
Study and analysis of structural materials necessary for the development of R + D + i technologies.
-
Chemical characterization of samples of energy and environmental interest.
-
Technological designs for the areas of electronics, medical applications and accelerators.
-
Management of information and communication technologies.
-
Information processing and storage for scientific supercomputing and distributed computing.
