Carmen Jiménez

Carmen Jiménez is a Senior Researcher in the Fluid Mechanics and Combustion Modeling Group at CIEMAT (Center for Energy Research, Madrid, Spain). She has a PhD in Fluid Mechanics obtained in 1998 at the University of Zaragoza, and was later a Marie Curie postdoctoral researcher at CERFACS and IMFT (Toulouse, France), where she worked in the group of Prof. Point in the field of direct simulation of combustion.

She obtained a "Ramón y Cajal" research fellowship and joined the LITEC-CSIC lab (Laboratory for Research in Combustion Technologies, Centre for Scientific Research) in Zaragoza, Spain. During her research appointment there (2001-2004) she started new research projects related to Large Eddy Simulations of Combustion and obtained, as a Principal Research, both national (LES in combustion systems, DPI2002-01709, Spanish National I+D Programme) and international (LESSCO2, ENK6-CT-2002-00616, EC VII FP) competitive grants .

Since May 2005, she is a researcher at the Fluid Mechanics and Combustion Modeling Group in CIEMAT. Her research work at CIEMAT has focused in the numerical analysis and simulation of fundamental combustion processes, using high performance computing. Her recent activity covers subjects such as  the study of the dynamics and stability of laminar flames, the characterisation of combustion in small scale devices, the reduction of chemical kinetics mechanisms and the numerical modeling of turbulent combustion.
