The Scientific IT Research Activities and Knowledge group of CIEMAT (Sci-TRACK) is in charge of carrying out Research and Development activities inside the ICT Division of CIEMAT.

CIEMAT was pioneer in Spain in supercomputation. The centre counts on computing facilities since the last fifties of the previous Century, which have been used by the CIEMAT personnel and also by the Spanish research community. These facilities are hosted and managed by the ICT Division, who also provides support to CIEMAT in every IT-related necessity.

Sci-Track is formed by researchers and engineers belonging to the Scientific IT and Computer Architecture Units of CIEMAT.

Research on fault tolerance techniques on distributed platforms and on optimization methodologies are the main lines of interest. Applications in Plasma Physics, Superconductivity and Health Sciences were developed as well.
