DEGREE

Bachelor degree in Physics and Master in Materials Science (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 2000) and Ph.D in Physics (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 2003).

RESEARCH CAREER

I have developed my research carrier at CIEMAT since 2000. My research is focused to analyse the migration of radioactive contaminants in the environment and in the materials of interest for radioactive waste disposals. My research activities are mainly devoted (1) to the thermodynamic description of the retention of radioactive pollutants in different materials, (2) to study the migration behaviour of contaminants and colloids in different materials, by means of nuclear ion beam techniques, (3) to analyse the role of colloids and nanoparticles in the transport of pollutants in the environment and, more recently (4) to evaluate different physico-geochemical processes that appreciate the properties of clay barriers. I have participated in more than 30 international research projects, financed by the EU, the Spanish Ministry of Science and European Radioactive Waste Management Agencies (ENRESA, SKB, NAGRA, ANDRA).
