Introduction
Our research group, the Soil Conservation and Recuperation Unit (CoReS), is a multidisciplinary group of recognized national and international prestige. We address different soil-related aspects, from microbiology to remote sensing, taking into account the living cell through to Earth observation by satellites. We work at different research scales which include experiments carried out in laboratories, cultivation chambers, greenhouses, lysimeters, experimental field plots and extended field work in areas of operation. Our work focuses on three main axes of activity: soil conservation, recuperation of contaminated areas or degraded sites and sustainable agriculture. Please consult our research lines to obtain more information.
We collaborate with other entities
We collaborate with other PROS (Public Research Organizations), technology and Research Centres and Universities as well as with the business and industrial sectors, both at the national and international level.
We train future professionals
Secondary school, university, postgraduate or master students are the future of Science in Spain and being aware of this, we take special care of internships, final degree and master projects, and research visits at CoReS; always providing knowledge and experience so that the training period in our group is beneficial for the future professionals. We participate with the CIEMAT training action in the 4th ESO-COMPANY and DUAL Training programs. Experts from different disciplines and knowledge are needed in an R&D+i group. Likewise, we welcome research staff and students from other countries to make their stays in our Unit. More information.
We disseminate Science
Increasing the scientific culture of people is essential for the future of the society. In our research group we develop activities to bring Science, research and technology closer to citizens (talks, conferences, visits, seminars, round tables, etc.), collaborating with the media and other entities in informative events of all kinds. At CIEMAT we take part in the Dissemination Committee and we actively participate in their activities. Outreach to professionals, students and the Public is essential to present our work, inform about science and attract future professionals. More information.
We bet on equality
Our research group is made up of a multidisciplinary group in which parity is present, since it has been shown that teams obtain better results when this is fulfilled. We firmly bet on real and effective equality and not only data on paper. That is why we become involved in activities that promote scientific vocation among girls, teenagers and young college students as well as on the 11th of February (International Day of Women and Girls in Science) and talks in educational centres. However, this is not enough to enhance the visibility of women in the scientific field, but we also want to bet on the inclusion of valuable people avoiding any kind of discrimination. Ultimately, we want to work and reflect a diverse, collaborative, tolerant society without barriers. More information.
